COMING SOON: Vineyard to Table Cooking with Kentucky Wine. The cookbook I’ve been working on, with help from Lee Ann Rose, is in it’s final stage – printing. I’m really pleased with the final results. 69 original recipes, informative chapters on the history of wine and food, tips for cooking and choosing wines, health benefits, cooking healthy and lots of photos.
by adminWhile staying in Kentucky, we wanted to get away for a couple of days to celebrate our anniversary. As wine lovers we decided to visit a winery and looked for a place to go. Their website says eat, taste, and stay. and Farmer and Frenchman Winery lives up to that billing. We spent two nights in a cabin at Farmer and Frenchman Winery, had a pizza from room service one evening and an exceptional meal at the restaurant the other evening as well as an appetizer and glass of wine on our arrival.
This is a relatively new winery in the state, but is a really good addition to our state’s wineries. While everything was nice, the best part of the trip was the excellent and friendly service. Everyone there went out of the way to make our visit a good one. Just outside of Henderson, Farmer and Frenchman is a great place to visit.

A couple of weeks ago, on a Saturday evening, we saw Rucca performing at Brianza Gardens and Winery. Their performances are always a lot of fun, but the outdoor venue at Brianza adds an extra enjoyment to their concert. Brianza provides an excellent outdoor stage. There’s music every weekend.
by adminElizabethtown offers a lovely site for a lunch with a little bit of wine. At Water’s Edge Winery and Bistro, enjoy a tasting of some wines made there from juice from a variety of places and have an exceptional bistro style lunch.
Water’s Edge Wineries are located in a number of states. They are a franchise that offers visitors the chance to try wines from many sources. Try a dry red or white or a fruit wine made there from imported juices while enjoying an excellent lunch.

Huber’s Orchard and Winery is an excellent place to visit. They offer restaurants, a cheese shop, an ice cream shop, a farmer’s market, a bakery, a winery, a distillery, and a you-pick farm. We love stopping there anytime, but especially at the end of May. This is the time for fresh strawberries. You can pick your own or buy them at the farmer’s market.
Strawberries are also to be found in the tasting room, with tastes of strawberry wine or strawberry infusion. Both are excellent. Tastes are also available of their wines and spirits.
There is definitely something for everyone. They even have a Family Farm Park so there’s fun for your kids as well. Located just north of Louisville in southern Indiana, Huber’s is a great day trip.
by adminWhile exploring Owensboro, we left the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and found a wine bar named Sip. It was an interesting experience. Wines were available to taste, have a half glass, or a whole glass. You could also choose wine from a bar and relax in a tasteful setting.
The tasting was different from any I’ve ever encountered. I have to say that a franchise of this wine bar would be a success.
